Madisonburg will be having town-wide yard sale days today and tomorrow, Sept. 9 and 10.

Milesburg’s fall yard sale days will be on Oct. 7-8 and Wellsboro’s fall yard sale dates have been set for Oct. 14-15.

Bald Eagle Valley Community Church will be having the first of their fall pot pie sales on Monday, Sept. 12. Pre-orders can be phoned to Janette this weekend at 814-883-0893. You can have your choice of ham or chicken pot pie at $8 a quart and the church gives you bread to go with it. Pick up is from 4 p.m. until all sold out in drive-thru style at the church parking lot. The church is located in Wingate, behind the Milesburg Sheetz store at 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte.

Pot pie sales will also be held on Oct. 10 and the last one for this fall will be held on Nov. 14. Mark your calendars and call Janette to place your orders early.

Howard United Methodist Church will hold a soup sale luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church fellowship hall. Soup is $7 for the lunch or for take-out freezable quart containers. Call Patti at 814-625-2182 to pre-order soup before Sept. 12.

Howard Area Lions Food Bank will be open on Monday, Sept. 12, for Centre County residents from noon to 3 p.m. at the former Beech Creek Elementary School. The distribution wasn’t held last Monday because of Labor Day.

Food Bank distribution for residents living in Beech Creek Borough and Beech Creek Township will be on Sept. 19.

Be sure to bring your sturdy boxes back so they can be reused for future food distributions.

Faith Chapel’s mobile thrift store will be set up in the bank parking lot in Beech Creek on Sept. 17 from 9 a.m. to noon. Stop by to shop for $5 bags of clothing and shoes in all sizes from infant to 3X. This store is open to everyone regardless of your income and is an outreach that the church does to help their neighbors in the community.

Twinkle Toes Dance team is planning to squeeze in one last basket raffle fundraiser before they travel to Disney World in Florida to dance on the Disney Springs stage on Oct.13.

The basket raffle will be held on Sept. 18 at their dance studio in the former Beech Creek Elementary School building from noon to 5 p.m. Basket donations are being accepted and can be dropped off by calling Angela at 570-660-6693.

A final rehearsal and “sneak-peek” performance for everyone to see the dance team’s efforts will be held at Price Auditorium on the Lock Haven University campus on Oct. 2 at 6:30 p.m.

The Lamar Lighthouse Camp will feature Victory Trio on Sunday evening, Sept. 11, beginning at 7 p.m. The concerts are free and a love offering is taken. There’s plenty of seating in the new tabernacle at the campground.

Jack’s Subs will be available (by pre-order only) on Sept. 28, 29, 30 and Oct. 1. Jack will be making subs as a fundraiser for the Yarnell Community Center. Subs will be available for pick-up from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the community center.

Prices are $7 for ham; $9 for turkey and $10 for roast beef. A cheese steak sub will be $12. Soda and chips will also be available for purchase. If you’d like to place an order, you can call Jack at 814-699-0548.

Yarnell resident Jack Miller is not planning to reopen his store, but rather is making the subs to help offset the costs of heating oil and other things that will be needed at the Yarnell Community Center.

The Yarnell United Methodist Church needs our help with recycling. The church is collecting plastic bags that will be recycled and made into a bench for the church yard.

Through Trex Recycling, the church team needs to collect more than 500 pounds of plastic in a six-month span until May, and then Trex will donate a high-performance composite bench to the church. Plastic bags and film of all sizes can be collected, but it must be kept clean and dry.

So, grab a large plastic bag and fill it up with your grocery bags, dry cleaning bags, Ziploc bags of all sizes, bread bags (turn inside out to dump out the bread crumbs), plastic wrap from cases of water, toilet paper and paper towels, shrink wrap and bubble wrap. Once your bag is filled it can be dropped off to Donna who lives near the Yarnell UM Church. Call Donna first at 814-880-9450 to make arrangements so that she can collect your bags and place them in a dry area.

The Nittany Antique Machinery Show will be held this weekend, Sept. 9-11, at Penns Cave. This year the featured tractors are the John Deere’s. The show and vendors open at 9 a.m. and run until dark. There are always lots of flea market, antiques and craft vendors. There will be live demonstrations and all kinds of tasty food available each day.
